If you’re looking for an activity which won’t make your teens roll their eyes at you (which mine do frequently) then why not take them to Moco Museum London, a modern art museum in central London.

With a unique collection of over 100 modern, contemporary, digital and immersive works of art over three floors, it’s a fun experience and definitely helps counteract the inevitable trip to the huge Primark on nearby Oxford Street. Containing iconic works by Banksy, Warhol, Haring, Basquiat, Kusama, Hirst and many more, as well as immersive digital rooms and contemporary installations. Moco Museum is designed to be accessible for all ages and all levels of art knowledge.
What is contemporary art? Contemporary art is defined as art created by artists living and working in the present day and usually taken from around the 1970s to today.
The venue is easy to find and just a few steps away from Marble Arch station on the Central Line. We had pre-booked our tickets so showed them at the door and walked in. The exhibition space is light and airy with plenty of space to view the exhibits. Even though we visited on a Sunday lunchtime, it didn’t feel too busy and we were able to spend as much time as we liked looking at the exhibits and taking photos.
There is a good mix of artists work on display. We recognised many of the artists but discovered new ones too. The eldest teen loved the Porsche by Daniel Arsham, the youngest teen liked the plastiline sculpture artwork created in 2022 by the art collective FriendsWithYou.
I really liked the volumetric light sculpture called ‘Endless Realities’, although it could have done with a good amount of cleaning to remove all the dirty fingerprints from previous visitors.
We were all surprised by the amount of art by the singer Robbie Williams, produced due to his years of therapy. We would have liked to purchase some of his words which were reproduced on postcards in the shop, but at £5 a pop we couldn’t justify the cost.
Moco Museum took us an hour to look round, before we laughed at the price of everything in the giftshop – £7 for a Warhol inspired sticker of a banana – and took ourselves off to lunch at Itsu. Definitely recommended if you have art loving teens, or just want a break from shopping on Oxford Street for an hour.

The nearest tube is Marble Arch on the Central Line. There is a free audio guide available, simply scan the QR code on a smartphone as you enter the experience. You can take photos as long as you don’t use a flash. The venue is fully accessible, with toilets and a small shop.
