Starting my week with The Weekly Edit is a ritual I’ve kept for years. It’s my favourite Monday morning anchor—a chance to slow down, celebrate the ‘small wins,’ and gather the smiles from the week behind us. Part reflection and part record-keeping, it’s my way of documenting our family’s adventures before the next chapter begins.
The Weekly Edit {Week 31/2026}
Last week the kids came back from a wonderful week at Scout camp. They had great weather and were able to enjoy a range of activities from kayaking to potholing and a water park. Of course they came home with big bags of dirty washing so I was glad of more good weather to get everything washed.
Whilst they were way in Wales our new garden table and chairs were delivered. These are much smaller than the old ones and fit the garden better. We started using them straight away and managed to give away our old table and chairs to a neighbour, so I was glad they will get used.
We had to get an electrician to install electricity into the new garden cabin. The cabin will be used by the teens, but not without electricity and network cables! The new floor is down and we will be moving furniture in after our holiday.
There are two free public sculpture trails in London at the moment. We managed to visit both of them over the weekend. The Pride in the Quarter trail features 17 artist-designed lion and lioness sculptures covering a 2-kilometer walking route past iconic Westminster landmarks. There are also five giant sculptures by artist Mr Doodle which have appeared across London’s West End as part of a new free public art trail. These are both free to visit and make for a fun holiday activity.
I love going to see musicals and we decided to book tickets for Hadestown which retells two intertwined ancient stories—Orpheus and Eurydice, and Hades and Persephone—setting them in a depression-era, industrial underworld. To be honest it wasn’t my favourite musical but I’m hoping the soundtrack will grow on me overtime.
